GIANT STEP REVIEW:
Lisa Preston and Sir Froderick make some refreshing music for real. Smooth, light, journeying across various interpretations of space, the sound is undeniably pleasant. At the beginning of this month, their duo Love Muscle dropped a 7-track album called 4pLay. The first track starts off with a beat that seems to have sampled some Georgia Anne Muldrow vocals – can’t be mad at it.
Lisa’s flowery vocal style lightweight reminds us of Kissey, who we shared a new track from a couple weeks ago. Sir Froderick holds it down as well, with production that is enchanting, charming, nostalgic, and new.
POTHOLES IN MY BLOG REVIEW:
I’m telling you guys, this dude Sir Froderick doesn’t mess around. He’s prolific as all get out and consistently putting out quality material. I think we all know plenty of “prolific” artists who could use a filter. But Sir Froderick? Hell no, especially if he continues to collaborate with songstress Lisa Preston. Together, they form 4pLay and this past week they released their debut, a quick-and-sexy EP called LoVeMuscLe. If you like your music smoky and sensual, you gotta hear this.
PRODUCERS I KNOW REVIEW:
4pLay is an ambitious project reminiscent of The Controls, Portishead or Esthero back when she worked with Doc in the early days. Sir Froderick on the beats and vocalist Lisa Preston AKA Lp crafts the compositions into songs so the end result is “LoVeMuscLe” . This is ill. DON’T SLEEP!
